Michael Crabtree injury: 49ers WR cleared to practice

Crabtree cleared an important hurdle in his recovery from a torn Achilles.

USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree has been officially cleared to practice. It's unknown when he will make his season debut, but the 49ers hope to have him ready in mid-to-late November.

More from Niners Nation: Recent roster moves

Crabtree suffered a fully torn Achilles in spring OTA workouts and was placed on the Reserve/PUP list. Once he begins practicing, the 49ers will have 21 days to either place him on the active roster or shut him down for the season. He is now eligible to join the team in practice this week as it gets ready to play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The 49ers are starting to get some weapons back. Mario Manningham was activated from the PUP list Monday and now Crabtree is due back soon. Both players will be a huge help to Colin Kaepernick, who has had to make do with Anquan Boldin and Kyle Williams as his top two receivers. Crabtree recorded 85 catches for 1,105 yards and nine touchdowns last season, and really clicked with Kaepernick during the 49ers' Super Bowl run.
