Kyle Rudolph injury: Vikings TE out 4-6 weeks

The Vikings have lost one of their best offensive players for at least a month.

Wesley Hitt

The Vikings' void of playmakers has gotten a bit larger. Minnesota tight end Kyle Rudolph is set to miss four to six weeks of action with a broken foot, according to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Rudolph suffered the foot injury in Sunday's loss to the Cowboys.

More on the Vikings: Daily Norseman

Rudolph is a major loss to the team as both a blocker and a receiver. His outstanding second season in the league allowed for plenty of success for the Vikings, but his production has been minimized in his third year due to a carousel of quarterbacks in Minnesota. Rudolph went to the Pro Bowl and was the MVP of the game last season, but has caught only 30 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns through eight games in 2013.

With Rudolph out of the lineup, the Vikings will rely heavily on veteran John Carlson and Rhett Ellison. The Vikings are currently 1-7 and are likely out of playoff contention.
