NFL odds and lines 2013, Week 10: Broncos vs. Chargers

Denver is a touchdown favorite, despite going on the road and facing a solid San Diego team.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

With the highest point differential in the NFL, the Denver Broncos are going to be heavy favorites in the majority of their games. That includes this week against San Diego with Denver opening as a 7-point favorite, according to OddsShark.com.

Denver is a touchdown favorite despite being on the road and playing against a 4-4 Chargers team which could potentially exploit the Broncos' biggest weakness. Denver is 30th in the NFL defending the pass while the Chargers are fourth in passing yards per game and third in yards per attempt. Denver leads the league in both categories, meaning Sunday's game could turn into a shootout. The total was set accordingly, opening at 57 points.

Although Denver and San Diego have essentially traded control of the AFC West during the past decade, both are currently trailing the Chiefs. With playoff berths and seeding on the line, Sunday's game could have a considerable impact on the AFC playoff picture.

The Chargers have been the better team against the spread this season, going 5-2-1 ATS compared to Denver’s 4-4 record. The Chargers are a perfect 3-0 ATS at home while Denver is just 1-2 ATS in road games. Denver is just 5-9-4 ATS in its last 18 games against the Chargers.

Despite the high total, the over could be a solid bet. Points have come in bunches between the two teams recently, with the over hitting in four of the last five contests.
