Three weeks after sources indicated that the second-year pro’s neck injury might not be as serious as first reported and that he was expected to return in 2013, Conor Orr of the Star Ledger is reporting that Wilson could be heading to the injured reserve (IR) list on Thursday.
Running back Andre Brown is scheduled to return from the short-term IR at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, and according to Orr, Wilson is likely to be moved off the active roster in order to make room for him.
Wilson, the team's top pick in the 2012 draft, entered the season as the starter, but suffered a herniated disc in his neck against the Eagles on Oct. 6. He has not played since. Initial reports indicated the issue could end his season, but medical staff determined in mid-October that he would not need surgery.
The Giants have until the 4 p.m. deadline to decide on their move.
