Alfonzo Dennard ruled out for Patriots vs. Texans

The young cornerback will miss Sunday’s game just a few days before a scheduled court hearing.

New England Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans, the team announced on Saturday night.

Dennard injured his knee on Nov. 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and missed the Week 11 loss to the Carolina Panthers after a bye week. Listed as doubtful heading into last week's big game against the Denver Broncos, Dennard toughed it out to play, but reinjured his knee in the second quarter and did not return. The second-year player was doubtful for Sunday's game in Houston after being limited in practice this past week.

The young cornerback has been solid for the Patriots this season, recording an interception and seven passes defensed while starting eight of ten games this season. Dennard is set to be sentenced in court on Thursday related a suspicion of DUI arrest that was ruled to have violated his two-year probation.

Aqib Talib and Kyle Arrington are expected to start at cornerback on Sunday.
