Jordan Reed injury: Concussion won’t sideline Redskins TE vs. Giants

The rookie tight end will play on Sunday after missing a game with a concussion.

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will play Sunday night against the New York Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Reed has not played since Nov. 1 when he suffered a concussion against the Philadelphia Eagles and was forced to leave the game after recording one catch for 12 yards. The rookie tight end has quickly become one of the more consistent weapons in the passing game for quarterback Robert Griffin III, and his development has led to veteran Fred Davis being inactive in most games this season.

With Reed likely to play and tight end Niles Paul likely limited to special teams duty because of sickness, Davis could remain active for a second consecutive week and play alongside Reed.

The rookie tight end has 45 catches for 499 yards and three touchdowns this season, including a nine-catch, 134-yard performance against the Bears on Oct. 20.

The Redskins face the Giants on Sunday Night Football with coverage on NBC.
