Jordan Reed injury: Redskins TE out with headache

Robert Griffin III will be without a key weapon on “Sunday Night Football.”

Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed will not play on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Reed suffered a "pregame headache," forcing him out of the critical NFC East matchup.

Reed sustained a concussion in Week 11 against the Philadelphia Eagles, and it's unclear if the headache is related to the prior trauma. He was listed as active early on Sunday, and it was assumed Reed would make his first start in two weeks.

Robert Griffin III's life will be considerably more difficult without the sure-handed tight end. Reed has been a bright spot for the Redskins in 2013, catching 45 passes for 499 yards and three touchdowns. Despite starting only four games in 2013, he ranks second on the team in receiving yards.

Washington will turn to Logan Paulsen to start, as it has for much of the season. He is more of an in-line blocker than pass-catching tight end, totaling 122 yards and a touchdown.
