Aaron Rodgers injury: Packers QB to be evaluated Wednesday

Green Bay is hoping to get its quarterback on the field in time for the stretch run.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is going to be evaluated on Wednesday to assess if he can get back into the action against the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, according to ESPN Wisconsin.

Coach Mike McCarthy talked about the injury and how Rodgers is progressing on Monday, per the piece:

“The way we’ve always done it, that’s with medical clearance,” McCarthy said Monday, one day after the Packers got their first victory without Rodgers, a 22-21 triumph over downtrodden Atlanta that snapped an 0-4-1 winless skid. “Obviously, when a player is in a rehab position, there’s conversation and obviously all the testing is done. That meeting goes on and ultimately Pat has to clear him. Dr. McKenzie has to clear the player.”

Rodgers has been out for the last five games after breaking his collarbone against the Chicago Bears on a Monday night game. The former MVP scrambled out to his right before being tackled on his shoulder by defensive end Shea McClellin.

Without Rodgers at the helm, Green Bay is 1-4-1. Matt Flynn earned his first win of the season last weekend, topping the Atlanta Falcons 22-21 to keep the Packers in the NFC North hunt. Currently, Green Bay is a half-game behind the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears.

Before Rodgers was injured, he threw for 2,218 yards and 15 touchdowns on a 66.9 completion percentage.
