The Miami Dolphins have officially placed cornerback Dimitri Patterson on injured reserve, ending his season. They signed defensive back Justin Rogers to take his place on the 53-man roster.
Dimitri Patterson injury: Dolphins CB placed on injured reserve
The Dolphins finally shut down Dimitri Patterson after he struggled with a groin injury all season.

Patterson suffered a groin injury in Week 1 and hasn't been 100 percent all season. He managed to play in just six games, recording four interceptions, six passes defended, one sack and 19 tackles starting opposite Brent Grimes. Nolan Carroll is expected to take Patterson's starting job for the rest of the season, with rookie Jamar Taylor playing in the slot position.
Patterson has been plagued by injuries in recent years. He played only nine games last season, and has managed to play all 16 games just once in his eight-year career. Patterson signed a three-year deal worth $16.05 million before the 2012 season and is due $5.3 million in 2014. His lingering injury concerns could make him a cap casualty in the offseason.
