Josh McCown (age 34), John Abraham (35) and Phil Dawson (38) were all honored as NFC Players of the Week for Week 14 as elder statesmen in the NFL. Their average age (35.7) makes them geriatric by NFL standards.

Josh McCown, John Abraham and Phil Dawson are geriatric by NFL standards, but they also are deserving Week 14 Players of the Week.

There is no doubt that they were deserving of honors, however.
McCown earn NFC Offensive Player of the week for his 348-yard, four-touchdown performance in a pivotal and dominant Chicago Bears win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Abraham had three sacks and a forced fumble among his six total tackles Sunday. He moved into the top 10 on the NFL's all-time sack list, and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Dawson, meanwhile, accounted for 13 of the San Francisco 49ers' 19 points against the Seattle Seahawks. He made 52-yard field goal and a game-winning 22-yarder. He was, obviously, named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week.
In the AFC, Andy Dalton earned his second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2013 season during the Cincinnati Bengals' win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Dalton accounted for three passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown during the game.
Defensive Player of the Week honors went to another pass rusher. Tamba Hali of the Kansas City Chiefs had two sacks and three tackles for loss among his six total tackles during a blowout win over the Washington Redskins. Hali is tied for sixth in the NFL with Abraham and teammate Justin Houston with 11 sacks this season.
Matt Prater was the AFC Special Teams honoree, which comes as no surprise. He set a league record with a 64-yard field goal just before the halftime of the Denver Broncos' win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
