Maurice Jones-Drew injury: Jags RB likely out for Week 15

Jacksonville’s offense is depleted in the waning weeks of the season.

Sam Greenwood

The Jacksonville Jaguars' three-game winning streak will be in jeopardy Sunday against the Bills, as starting running back Maurice Jones-Drew is not expected to play, Ian Rapoport is reporting.

The eight-year veteran out of UCLA has struggled with injuries in the past -- missing the last ten games of the 2012 season -- but had played in every game this year until this hamstring injury. Jones-Drew had not been a huge force for Jacksonville this season, averaging just 3.5 yards per rush and no longer returning kicks and punts, but he is still the team’s leading rusher on the season by far, with 719 yards.

Second place on the team is Jordan Todman with 138 yards, and he will likely start for the Jaguars in Jones-Drew's place. The third-year player out of Connecticut has bounced around three different teams in his time in the NFL, and will be looking at his first chance at consistent carries Sunday. His career highs in carries (11) and yards (31) are both very much in reach if the Jaguars elect to go with him on the ground.

Wide receiver Cecil Shorts III will also be out for the Jaguars.
