Another week, another Houston Texans loss. The only good thing about the team's 25-3 meltdown against the Indianapolis Colts was that it moved them one step closer to the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Texans vs. Colts 2013: Houston ‘awful in every phase of the game’
The Texans are awful. No, like really, really awful. Words can’t accurately describe how bad this team is. But we’ll try anyway. (Oh and the Colts’ Robert Mathis is making a case for Defensive Player of the Year.)

The Texans, who haven’t won since Week 2, didn’t score a single point over the final three quarters, had just 132 passing yards and allowed four sacks. A week after being flagged 14 times for 177 yards, they piled up 14 penalties for 114 yards. Gary Kubiak’s firing has helped nothing in the short term, and if anything has resulted in Houston playing even worse.

What can I even say? To say that your Houston Texans just laid an egg in Indianapolis would be giving eggs a bad name. At no point today did the Texans even resemble a team of professional football players. They were awful in every phase of the game. They continued to amass penalties at a mind-blowing rate and generally appeared as though they didn’t belong on the same field as the Colts.
The win was a nice reprieve for the Colts, who were hammered by the Bengals last week and had lost three out of their last five coming in. Of particular note was the play of defensive end Robert Mathis, who recorded yet another sack and has Josh Wilson at Stampede Blue speculating on a possible Defensive Player of the Year award.
At the age of 32 and playing with the worst pass rush threats alongside him of any in his career, Mathis has been better than ever, and in fact he has been better than any Colts pass rusher ever. On Sunday, he set the franchise record with sack number 16.5 on the season, breaking Dwight Freeney’s single-season franchise record of 16.0 that he set in 2004.
His 16.5 sacks also lead the NFL, with the next closest player still being 1.5 sacks away. He has made 49 tackles and forced 6 fumbles on the year, as well as batting down a pass. He has also been responsible for two safeties for the Colts.
