AFC West injuries, Week 15: Wes Welker yet to receive clearance

Wes Welker’s status for Week 16 remains up in the air while he attempts to gain clearance following a concussion.

Despite losing to San Diego on Thursday, the Broncos remain control in the AFC West and the AFC. They may, however, have to play without a couple key players going forward. Wes Welker's status remains unclear due to a concussion.

Here is a look at the injury news from around the AFC West.

Denver:

The Broncos returned to practice on Monday and were without a couple of key players. Welker has yet to receive medical clearance and continues to go through the NFL's concussion protocol. In addition to Welker, cornerback Kayvon Webster and defensive end Derek Wolfe both sat out practice. Webster has a thumb injury while Wolfe is still dealing with an illness that caused him to miss the last three weeks.

Kansas City:

Eric Fisher's nagging shoulder injury cropped up again and he left the game on Sunday. Andy Reid said Fisher was a "little bit better" on Monday. Reid said Dexter McCluster, Branden Albert and Justin Houston are making progress. All three missed the game against Oakland.

Oakland:

Darren McFadden could be nearing a return and the oft-injured running back is expected to practice on Wednesday, according to head coach Dennis Allen. McFadden missed five of the last six games due to ankle injuries. Allen said Charles Woodson should be fine after the safety suffered a rib injury.

San Diego:

The Chargers made it through Week 15 relatively healthy. Outside linebacker Melvin Ingram limped off the field with an ankle injury, but did not re-injure his surgically-repaired knee. Guard Chad Rinehart briefly left the game with a leg injury and D.J. Fluker was treated for cramping. Neither is expected to miss time.
