NFL odds and lines, Patriots vs. Ravens 2013: Baltimore a slight favorite
The Ravens will host the Patriots on Sunday and Baltimore opened as a slight betting favorite.
The Ravens and Patriots will both have plenty to play for in Baltimore on Sunday and oddsmakers installed the Ravens as a 1.5-point favorite, according to OddsShark.com.
Currently, both teams are holding on to playoff spots, but neither has clinched a spot. The Patriots are in good position to win the AFC East and possibly secure a first-round bye. New England will clinch the division with a win on Sunday or a Miami loss this week. The Pats can clinch a first-round bye with a win and losses by Cincinnati and Indianapolis.
The Ravens can clinch a playoff spot as well. If Baltimore wins and the Dolphins and Chargers lose, the Ravens are in. Baltimore is still in the race for the AFC North and would win the division if it wins its final two games. Beating New England is the first step and Baltimore may be in good shape if recent history holds. New England is just 1-6 against the spread on the road this season. Baltimore is 4-3 ATS at home.
The total for the game opened at 44.5 points which is well below the 47.5 points per game the two offenses combine to average. Defensively, the teams allow a combined 42 points per game. History says the under is the best bet. The total has gone under in seven of Baltimore’s last nine home games and six of New England’s last nine road games.
New England has had the upper hand in the head-to-head matchup recently, winning eight of its last 11 games against the Ravens.
