Wes Welker injury: Broncos WR ruled out for Sunday with concussion

Wes Welker will miss Week 16 due to lingering concussion symptoms, per a report.

Wes Welker will sit out a second straight week for the Denver Broncos due to his lingering concussion, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer. Welker has yet to be cleared for practice, meaning that his status may still be in doubt beyond this weekend's game against the Houston Texans.

Welker suffered his most recent concussion in Week 14 against the Tennessee Titans. He suffered another concussion in Week 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs, but was not held out for the following game against the New England Patriots.

The Broncos are playoff bound at 11-3 overall. They are currently fighting to maintain their hold on the No. 1 seed in the AFC and homefield advantage. Just behind them are the 10-4 New England Patriots. The Chiefs are also 11-3, and would take a strong hold on the AFC West and jump into the 1-seed with a win and a Broncos loss this week.

Should Welker be held out until the postseason, he will finish the regular season with fewer than 100 receptions for the first time since 2010. He has 73 receptions for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns through 13 game appearances.
