Percy Harvin injury: Seahawks WR likely out vs. Saints

A flare up in Harvin’s surgically repaired hip is expected to keep him out of a pivotal Monday night showdown.

After making his long-awaited Seattle Seahawks debut two weeks ago, it's becoming increasingly likely that wide receiver Percy Harvin will miss his encore performance on Monday Night Football. NFL insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that Harvin, who recently underwent injections for his injured hip, considers himself as out against the New Orleans Saints.

Harvin has not been officially ruled out, but is considered extremely doubtful to play. The former Viking experienced a flare up in his surgically repaired hip over the weekend and was treated with a cortisone shot. He experienced a similar issue in October in the days leading up to his return to the active roster and had to have the hip drained.

His status against the San Francisco 49ers on Dec. 8 is also up in the air.

Harvin arrived in Seattle over the offseason following a blockbuster trade, but surgery kept him off the field until Week 11 against Minnesota. He was limited to two touches against his former team, but thrilled Seahawks fans with a spectacular one-handed grab and an electrifying kick return.

With huge matchups against the Saints and 49ers looming in the next seven days, Seattle could certainly use more of that playmaking. For now, they, along with their ailing receiver, will have to sit and wait.
