Saints vs. Seahawks halftime score: Seattle jumps out to 27-7 lead

Things couldn’t have started much better for Seattle, which leads the Saints big at halftime.

Led by an impressive half from Russell Wilson and a swarming defense, the Seattle Seahawks are off to a great start on Monday against the New Orleans Saints. Seattle jumped out early and leads, 27-7, at halftime.

It would have been hard for the game to start much better for Seattle. The Seahawks forced a three-and-out on New Orleans' opening possession, then opened the scoring with a field goal. Cliff Avril pressured Brees into a fumble on the Saints' second possession, with Michael Bennett snagging the ball and returning it for a touchdown. Just like that, it was 10-0 Seattle.

That wasn’t even the worst of it. The Saints again failed to pick up a first down on their next drive and Seattle got back into the end zone, making it 17-0 at the end of the first quarter, the biggest first-quarter deficit the Saints have ever faced in the Sean Payton era.

New Orleans eventually settled down and got on the scoreboard, only to see Seattle answer back with two more scoring drives. If the Saints are going to come away with the win, they will have a lot of ground to make up in the second half. New Orleans will have to find some success on defense after getting torched by Wilson in the first half. Wilson completed 14-of-19 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns.

The quick start for Seattle didn’t help New Orleans quiet the raucous crowd. Instead, the fans got even louder, setting a Guinness World Record for crowd noise in the process.
