Browns vs. Jets 2013 final score: Geno Smith scores 3 TDs in 24-13 win

Smith threw two touchdowns and ran for another one as the Jets pull to within one game of .500.

Amid rumors that Rex Ryan is in his final weeks as a head coach in New York, the Jets responded with a 24-13 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Geno Smith played mistake-free football and threw a pair of touchdowns as the Jets, already eliminated from the playoffs, improved to 7-8 on the season. The loss drops Cleveland to 4-11.

Smith gave the Jets their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter when he connected with David Nelson for a touchdown, his second of the game. The score capped a 17-0 run for New York, which trailed 10-0 at one point in the second quarter.

Smith then scored on a 17-yard scamper to put the game away with just over three minutes remaining.

The Browns opened a 10-point lead in the second quarter when Edwin Baker finished off a four-play drive with a five-yard touchdown run.

The Jets responded with a 10-point run to even the game. Smith led the Jets on an 80-yard drive late in the second quarter, capping it with a six-yard touchdown pass to Nelson. A Browns three-and-out gave the ball right back to New York with 34 seconds remaining in the half, and the Jets were able to move into field position and allow Nick Folk to tie the game with a 21-yard kick.

Smith went 20-of-36 for 214 yards and rushed ten times for 48 yards, also scoring once on the ground.

Did they cover?

The Jets opened as one-point favorites, according to Oddsshark.com, easily covering with the 11-point win.
