Retiring Jaguars C Brad Meester catches pass in final home game

Playing in front of the Jacksonville fans for one last time, Meester got to do something he has never done before.

Jacksonville Jaguars center Brad Meester, who announced his retirement this week and is playing in his final home game on Sunday, will now get to say that not only did he play 14 seasons in the NFL with the same team, but he also caught an NFL pass. Driving against the Tennessee Titans in the first quarter, Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne found Meester for a 9-yard screen pass.

Jacksonville later scored on a 4-yard pass to Marcedes Lewis to take a 7-3 lead against the Titans.

Meester, a second round pick by the Jaguars in 2000 out of Northern Iowa, is the only player in franchise history to play for every coach in Jacksonville history. He is playing in his 195th game, the 19th-most among active NFL players. The veteran center didn’t get to see the Jags return to the playoffs this season, but at least he got to add a catch to his resume.

Jacksonville could be looking to add a receiver in the offseason, after all.
