The holidays have Chicago Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown feeling sentimental about his family, and also considering hanging up his cleats. McCown, who played a critical role in keeping the Bears' afloat while Jay Cutler was sidelined with injuries, said he is considering retiring after this season in order to spend more time with his family, reports Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Josh McCown isn’t sure if he’ll play in the NFL next season
The 34-year-old backup quarterback wants to spend more time with his family and is considering retirement.

McCown’s family has been forced to commute back and forth between Chicago and their home in North Carolina, an inconvenience that will play a major role in his future once he becomes a free agent at the close of this season.
“Whether it’s us living together and moving quite possibly or just being done playing, one or the other, it’s just figuring out a way to be together,” McCown said.
The 34-year-old McCown's 11th year in the NFL has been one to remember, as he came off the bench in relief of an injured Cutler to lead the Bears to a 3-2 record in the back half of the season and is a major reason Chicago can clinch the NFC North and a playoff berth with a win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
McCown played so well -- throwing 13 touchdowns to just one interception and posting a quarterback rating of 109.0 -- that some in Chicago wanted him to remain the starter even after Cutler returned from injury in Week 15. Cutler has started the last two games and will start Sunday against the Packers.
