The Chicago Bears secured their kicker through 2017, with the team announcing a four-year extension for Robbie Gould on Friday that will keep the third-most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history in Chicago.
Robbie Gould contract: Bears K signs 4-year extension
Gould’s contract makes him the kicker for the Bears through the 2017 season.

The deal is worth $15 million with $9 million guaranteed, according to ProFootballTalk.
Gould, 31, is one of two players to eclipse 1,000 career points with the franchise, and trails only former Bears kicker Kevin Butler in career scoring for the team. With only 95 points separating Gould from the franchise record, he would presumably be in line to eclipse the mark in 2014 if he manages to stay healthy.
“I thought it was important that I remain a Bear,” Gould said in a statement following the signing. “If I’m going to hold a trophy up, I want to do it with the Chicago Bears.”
Gould’s career field-goal percentage of 86.03 ranks sixth all-time in NFL history.
