Texans vs. Titans 2013 results: Houston loses game, wins number 1 pick

With 14 straight losses, the Texans have gone from AFC South champions to the worst record in the NFL.

The last time the Houston Texans won a game, they beat the Tennessee Titans 30-24 in overtime, led by quarterback Matt Schaub. Their most recent loss came on Sunday against the Titans, 16-10, their fourteenth loss in a row, again led by Schaub.

Though the losing streak cost Schaub and head coach Gary Kubiak their respective jobs (Schaub won his back by default but likely won't return as starter in 2014) maybe one good thing has come out of the losing streak: The Texans have won the number one overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. It will be their third time picking first overall in franchise history.

Schaub went 22-of-34 for 229 yards and two interceptions in his final game of the year, which only highlights the fact that most mock drafts will probably have a quarterback going to Houston at the top of next year's draft. Despite the poor record by the Texans this year, many could possibly see them rebounding next season a la the 2013 Kansas City Chiefs, if only they can find more stability at the quarterback position under the tutelage of a new head coach.

The Titans finish the season at 7-9 and in second place in the AFC South. Tennessee head coach Mike Munchak will have to wait and find out if that’s good enough for management to invite him back for a fourth season, despite only posting one winning record in his career so far.

Fantasy Studs and Duds

Titans running back Chris Johnson fumbled, but also rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Kendall Wright was held to 50 yards, no scores and a fumble, while Nate Washington was held to just 39 yards.

The Texans started running back Jonathan Grimes despite him having only 29 career rushing yards. He had 50 yards on Sunday with a touchdown and a fumble, but added six catches for 76 yards. Andre Johnson was held to 49 yards and no scores.

Did They Cover?

The Titans were 6.5-point favorites, per OddsShark.com, so they did not quite cover.
