2014 NFL playoff picture: Eagles clinch NFC East, No. 3 seed with win over Cowboys

A late Kyle Orton interception sent Chip Kelly’s Eagles to the postseason for the first time since 2010.

The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Tony Romo-less Cowboys on Sunday night, 24-22, to win the NFC East.

With the win, the Eagles secured the No. 3 seed in the NFC. They will face the No. 6-seeded New Orleans Saints on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 8:10 p.m. ET. As for the other NFC wild card matchup, the Packers, who stunned the Bears on Sunday afternoon, will host the 49ers in a rematch of last year's divisional round classic at 4:40 p.m. next Sunday.

Here is the final seeding for the NFC:

3. Philadelphia Eagles (10-6)

4. Green Bay Packers (8-7-1)

5. San Francisco 49ers (12-4)

6. New Orleans Saints (11-5)

AFC

1. Denver Broncos (13-3)

The AFC’s side of things was a bit calmer on Sunday, as five of the six teams had already clinched playoff berths coming into Week 17.

Where the madness took place was the final wildcard spot. The Chargers needed a whole lot of help to get into the playoffs, but with the Ravens falling in Cincinnati and the Dolphins looking completely lost against the Jets, an overtime win against Kansas City sent San Diego to the playoffs. The Chargers will now face the Bengals next Sunday at 1:05 p.m. ET.

Indianapolis and Kansas City will battle in the other AFC wild card game at 4:35 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon. The Colts went into Arrowhead Stadium and dominated the Chiefs in Week 16, cruising to a 23-7 win. This game will be played inside a dome at Lucas Oil Stadium, so weather won't be a factor for Andrew Luck or Alex Smith.
