The Cleveland Browns worked out Caleb Hanie a week ago and have now elected to bring him on board, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Caleb Hanie signs with Cleveland Browns
Hanie joins a team that may be forced to start Alex Tanney at quarterback in Week 14.

Hanie, 28, entered the league in 2008 as an undrafted free agent who signed with the Chicago Bears. After contributing on a few snaps in his first few seasons with the team, Hanie earned his first time as a starter in 2011, although he threw three touchdowns and nine interceptions, earning an 0-4 record as a starter.
After reaching free agency in 2012, Hanie played one season with the Denver Broncos as a backup for Peyton Manning and had a short stint with the Baltimore Ravens during the 2013 offseason.
Jason Campbell still hasn't been cleared to return after suffering a Week 12 concussion and Brandon Weeden may be out as well after suffering a concussion on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That means the team may be forced to start Alex Tanney, a second-year passer who has never taken an NFL snap.
The Browns are scheduled to travel to face the New England Patriots in Week 14 before traveling back home to host Hanie's former team, the Chicago Bears.
