Washington Redskins linebacker played most of the 2013 season with a tear in the lateral meniscus in his left knee and will undergo arthroscopic surgery next week to repair the injury, according to Zac Boyer of the Washington Times.

The injury occurred in a Week 3 loss to the Detroit Lions. It did not force him out of that contest and he played in all 16 games during the season.
It’s unclear at what point Kerrigan and the Redskins realized he would need surgery. The third-year defender downplayed the injury back in September.
“I just banged it up a little bit,” Kerrigan told the Washington Post the week after the injury. “I’m feeling good today, though, and I’m expecting to fully practice.”
The issue didn’t seem to affect his play through the year, as he finished with a career-high 66 tackles and four forced fumbles. He posted 8.5 sacks for a second consecutive season.
