Carson Palmer injury: Elbow bothering Cardinals QB

Palmer was limited in practice Thursday and wore a sleeve over his elbow.

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was limited in practice on Thursday by an elbow issues. He threw fewer passes than the rest of the team's quarterbacks and wore a sleeve over the elbow, according to Kent Somers.

Details of the injury are unknown, but USA Today is reporting it could have occurred during the third play of the Cardinals' loss to the Eagles last week when Palmer took a hard shot as he was throwing. The veteran quarterback went just 24-of-41 during that game and made several under throws following the suspected injury.

No official word has been released by the team, and as of now it seems as though Palmer is on track to start Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Drew Stanton is listed as the backup on the Cardinals' depth chart.

By and large, Palmer has brought stability to a position that has been unreliable in Arizona since the retirement of Kurt Warner. The team is currently 7-5 and one game out of the NFC wild card hunt. He has thrown for 3,189 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, though his 17 interceptions are on the high side.
