Gary Kubiak became the first head coach fired in the 2013 season as he was relieved of his duties following a 27-20 loss at the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football.

In his eighth season with the Texans, Gary Kubiak was fired from his position as head coach and Wade Phillips was named interim head coach for the remainder of the year.

Kubiak, 52, was in his eighth season with the team after joining the team in 2006. After back-to-back playoff seasons with one postseason win in each, the Texans were considered to be a Super Bowl favorite in 2013, but have now lost 11 consecutive games after starting 2-0. Kubiak caught headlines earlier in the year when he suffered a "mini-stroke" at halftime of a Sunday Night Football game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Serving in his place will be Wade Phillips, who has previous head coaching experience with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys and even interim head coaching experience with the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons. Starting for the remainder of the season will be second-year quarterback Case Keenum.

As one coach exits, another returns. John Fox is expected to take back his role as the head coach of the Broncos after over a month away from the team due to heart surgery in early November. The Broncos went 2-1 under interim head coach Jack Del Rio, but Fox says he will coach from the sideline upon his return.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew looked like his old self on Thursday night, eclipsing 100 yards rushing for the first time since Week 3 of 2012, but that resurgence could be jeopardized by a hamstring injury he suffered late in the game. Jones-Drew brushed off the injury that sent him to the locker room as nothing after the game, but is now scheduled to undergo an MRI on Friday to determine the extent of the damage.
The Green Bay Packers have been in a tailspin since losing Aaron Rodgers in Week 9 and they'll have to pull out of that tailspin without him, as he'll again by out. Instead it will be Matt Flynn starting in Week 14, as Rodgers is not yet prepared to return, despite practicing earlier in the week. The Packers were 5-2 before Rodgers was lost early in a Monday Night Football loss to the Chicago Bears. The team is 0-3-1 in the four games since.
Jason Campbell will return to the Bowns' starting lineup in Week 14 after a concussion held him out of Week 13. In his place, Brandon Weeden tallied 370 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a losing effort against the Jaguars, but suffered a concussion of his own. Behind the pair on the depth chart is Alex Tanney, a second-year player that was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012.
