Eddie Lacy injury: Packers RB back in

Lacy has returned from an ankle injury against the Falcons.

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

UPDATE: Lacy has returned to the field for the Packers.

As if things couldn't get any worse on the injury front for the Green Bay Packers, rookie running back Eddie Lacy has gone down with an ankle injury and is questionable to return Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, according to Tyler Dunne.

Lacy suffered the injury sometime during the first half and was seen limping badly into the locker room at halftime. He emerged looking much better at the beginning of the third quarter, jogging along the sideline as he tried to keep warm in the frigid Green Bay temperature. He remains on the sideline, however, and has been replaced by James Starks.

With the temperature below freezing and quarterback Matt Flynn struggling behind a poor offensive line, the Packers desperately need the power running game Lacy brings. He had just 32 yards on 11 carries before exiting, but did score the team's only touchdown in the first quarter from one yard out.

Facing a fourth-and-short on the team’s second possession of the second half, coach Mike McCarthy elected to kick a field goal despite trailing 21-10. It would be interesting to know if McCarthy would have made the decision to go for it with the powerful Lacy in the game.
