Super Bowl 2013: 49ers fans disappointed with loss to Ravens

San Francisco 49ers fans are disappointed with the result of Super Bowl XLVII, as the Niners fell just short of what would have been a remarkable comeback against the Baltimore Ravens.

Jamie Squire

Super Bowl XLVII ended with the San Francisco 49ers suffering their first-ever loss in the Super Bowl, falling to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31.

San Francisco was down 21-3 early in the game, and battled all the way back, making it 31-29. The 49ers had a chance to take the lead with under two minutes to play, when Colin Kaepernick led the 49ers to an and-goal situation, trailing just 34-29.

Unfortunately for 49ers fans, the drive stalled out, as Kaepernick threw an incomplete pass intended for Michael Crabtree on fourth down, realistically ending any chances San Francisco had to win the game, since the 49ers had just one timeout remaining.

Needless to say, the folks over at Niners Nation, SB Nation’s 49ers blog, are disappointed with the loss -- especially David Fucillo, who was in New Orleans.

The 49ers played some atrocious football at times, and yet they still had a chance to win this thing late. It was a wildly entertaining game, but that is little comfort after a season that had them on the verge of Lombardi No. 6.

This was my first Super Bowl and watching the confetti come down after the game was truly painful. I was going to get down for the post-game interviews and locker room scene, but after watching this, I have no interest in that at all. So, I’m wrapping this up and going to drink myself into oblivion.

There are always two sides to the Super Bowl story -- and one of them always ends in sadness. Unfortunately for Fucillo and 49ers fans, they’re the ones experiencing Super Bowl sadness for the very first time.
