NFL Combine 2013: Ryan Nassib will ‘do everything’ in Indy

Syracuse Orange senior quarterback Ryan Nassib will participate in all of the drills at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, hoping to improve his draft stock.

Jesse Johnson-US PRESSWIRE

Syracuse Orange quarterback Ryan Nassib is aiming to pump up his draft stock. On Wednesday, Nassib announced that he'll participate in all of the various drills at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, per Pro Football Talk.

NFL teams and fans were spoiled with the 2012 quarterback class, as Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson all led their teams to the playoffs as rookie quarterbacks, while Ryan Tannehill showed encouraging signs as a rookie starter for the Miami Dolphins.

This year, there is no sure-fire quarterback selection, like Luck was seen last year. Matt Barkley, Geno Smith and Nassib have all seen their draft stock fluctuate throughout the season, and as a consequence, the trio of quarterbacks will participate in all the drills at the combine, as they attempt to boost their draft stock.

Even though the Bills have Ryan Fitzpatrick penciled in as their starting quarterback, Nassib hopes to land with the Bills. Buffalo has the No. 8 overall selection, and Buffalo's second round pick is No. 41 overall.

Nassib’s draft stock has been rising since November, and a good showing at the NFL Scouting Combine would only help Nassib blossom into a first round pick -- and potentially a top-10 draft selection.

As a senior quarterback in 2012, Nassib completed 62.4% of his passes for 3,749 yards, averaging 8.0 yards per attempt. Nassib threw 26 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Nassib’s yards-per-attempt average jumped up 1.5 yards in his senior year, and his 26 touchdowns constitute a collegiate career-high.

Nassib was not a first round selection in SB Nation’s latest mock draft. Still, Nassib has two months to prove that he’s a first round pick -- and with plenty of quarterback-hungry teams in the NFL, a strong showing at the NFL Scouting Combine could very well help Nassib become a first-round pick.
