The Denver Broncos will place a franchise tag of offensive lineman Ryan Clady, according to John Elway, who is the team's senior vice president of football operations. That could happen as soon as Tuesday, which is when the franchise tag period begins.
Broncos will use franchise tag on OT Ryan Clady
The Broncos haven’t been able to work out a long-term contract with Clady, so for now they’ll use the franchise tag.

The Broncos and Clady tried to work out a contract extension prior to last season, but were unable to agree on terms. Elway says the franchise still would like to work out a long-term deal with Clady, despite the shoulder injury he suffered in 2012.
“Things have changed a little bit because he’s coming off a shoulder surgery,” Elway said. “But we like Ryan. We like him a lot as a player and we’d like to get something done.”
Clady is a three-time Pro Bowler and he has started every regular-season game for the Broncos since 2008.
