Tony Romo, Cowboys have yet to discuss contract extension
The Dallas Cowboys and Tony Romo have not begun to negotiate any sort of contract extension for the quarterback.

Romo and the Cowboys suspended contract talks during the 2012 season to keep it from becoming a distraction, but they have yet to resume negotiations. Romo is scheduled to earn a base salary of $11.5 million in 2013, the last year of his current contract.

The Cowboys have expressed interest in signing Romo to a new deal and getting it done this offseason. Cowboys president Stephen Jones has said, “Tony is a key piece of what we’re about going forward.” Jones also said that the Cowboys would like to sign Romo to a new deal so they can continue to address the rest of their salary cap concerns.
Despite his $11.5 salary, Romo’s cap hit for the 2013 season under his current contract is $16.8 million. Dallas is nearly $20 million over the cap and must get under by March 12.
