NFL Draft 2013: Tyler Wilson believes he’s ‘worthy’ of 1st round pick

The opinions of the quarterbacks in the 2013 NFL Draft class vary, but Tyler Wilson said he thinks he is worthy of being a first round pick.

Heading into his senior season, former Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was a Heisman Trophy candidate. Wilson wasn’t able to duplicate the success he had as a junior, part owing to a coaching change, but heading into the NFL Draft Wilson said he still thinks he is worth of being a first-round draft pick.

Wilson has been working out with former NFL quarterback Chris Weinke. He said while he's always had a natural ability to throw the ball, working with Weinke has made him feel better about his throwing ability than ever before. That throwing ability is just one reason he said he thinks he should be among the first 32 picks.

“I know where I stack up and a number of things I can bring an NFL team,” Wilson said, according to the USA Today. “I think I’m worthy.”

Weinke agreed with that assessment and said Wilson has made considerable improvement since they began working together.

“I believe Tyler belongs in the first round. That’s my personal opinion. His arm talent is as good as some of the big boys, if not better in some cases,” Weinke said.

SB Nation's NFL Draft expert Dan Kadar ranked Wilson as the third best quarterback prospect in the draft, behind Geno Smith and Matt Barkley. Kadar, however, did not include Wilson in his most recent mock draft. Smith is the only quarterback Kadar projects in the first round. Opinions do vary, as Wilson has been projected to both the Browns at No. 6 and the Cardinals at No. 7.
