Antonio Brown: Steelers locker room wasn’t on same page

Antonio Brown went on SportsCenter Wednesday and said the Steelers locker room was divided all throughout a disappointing 8-8 season.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown wasn't happy with the locker room atmosphere last season.

According to Pro Football Talk, Brown went on SportsCenter Wednesday and described the locker room as fractured, claiming that "guys weren't really together". Veteran leader Troy Polamalu was among those who tried to bring the team together, to no avail:

“That’s when you know you’ve got issues and you’ve got to come together as a team. Because the reality of a team game is everyone on the same page, committed to the same thing, dedicated for one goal, and that’s winning.”

Without naming names, Brown thinks that some teammates cared more about individual stats than the team's record. He also believes that the Steelers had the talent to make a Super Bowl run:

"Winning is not talent. It's all about being on the same page, and each guy having the guy next to him's back, and being committed to winning. You see a Ravens team that was committed to winning and togetherness, and that's what it's all about."

The Steelers stumbled to a disappointing 8-8 season, missing the playoffs for only the fourth time in the past 12 years. Key injuries were the main culprit, but a divided locker room certainly didn’t help matters. Brown himself had a down season, finishing with 66 catches for 787 yards and five touchdowns while missing time with an ankle injury.

With Mike Wallace set to hit free agency, Brown is expected to step in as the new No.1 wideout. He and his teammates certainly have the talent to get back into the playoffs, but they need to get back on the same page and work towards a common goal.
