RG3, Marcus Lattimore recovering well from knee injuries, Dr. James Andrews says

Both Robert Griffin III is well ahead of schedule in his return from injury, according to Dr. James Andrews, while Marcus Lattimore continues to recover from his own knee injury.

Robert Griffin III and Marcus Lattimore both suffered terrible knee injuries last season that seemingly ruled them out for the 2013 season, but both might actually be in action this fall, according to Dr. James Andrews.

Griffin's return from knee surgery remains well ahead of schedule. The Washington Redskins' quarterback underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL, an operation that sometimes can take more than a year to recover from, but Griffin he is already on an accelerated timetable just one month after going under the knife.

“We’ve got him well on his way,” Andrews, Griffin’s surgeon, told NFL Network at the Combine. “He’s an unbelievable athlete. His recovery is well ahead of schedule so far.”

The update Andrew provided on Lattimore wasn’t quite as detailed, but he did say Lattimore was doing well after his awful injury. The doctor said his torn ACL, LCL and PCL was as bad a knee injury as you can get, but that like Griffin, he was recovering well. Exactly what the timeline for Lattimore’s recovery is remains unclear, but things are looking brighter than they did when he suffered the injury in November.

Lattimore’s progress is good news for his draft stock, which is up in the air because of his injury. A surefire first round pick before his injury, most have pegged him as a mid-round pick, but Lattimore did tell Inside the Roost that the NFL doctors at the Combine “will be shocked” by his recovery. If true, Lattimore might start creeping back up draft boards.
