NFL Combine 2013 results: Wide receivers measure up

The wide receivers are in attendance in Indianapolis, granting interviews, as well as participating in medical examinations and physical measurements. With the NFL Combine officially underway, teams are eager to get a look at this year’s crop of playmakers.

There are a number of highly rated prospects, but there is no clear-cut No. 1 available.

The wide receiver position is booming with talent, and is versatile when it comes to skill sets. There are big chain-movers available, as well as top-end speed threats. Keenan Allen, Cordarrelle Patterson, Terrance Williams and Tavon Austin are some popular names that could all be called on Day 1.

Austin was a dynamic game-breaker at West Virginia, but only measured in at 5’9”, 174 pounds at the combine. Teams will be able to take advantage of his talent, but since he lacks the physical measurables desired for the position, it will be hard for him to be a top-25 pick.

Then there are the underrated prospects with size like Justin Hunter and Marquess Wilson, who could see a boost in their draft stock. They both meet the criteria for the prototypical Z receiver at the pro level, and could sneak up into the early-to-mid rounds come April.
