The Buffalo Bills will not offer a $1.3 million tender to wide receiver David Nelson, according to a report. Nelson will become the second pass catcher to be let go this offseason by Buffalo, joining Donald Jones.

Nelson, a former undrafted free agent, was a useful possession receiver his first two years in Buffalo, catching 92 passes for 1,011 yards and eight touchdowns in that span. Entering the 2012 season, Chan Gailey and the coaching staff hoped to expand Nelson’s role in the offense, but the wideout tore his ACL in the first game of the season and missed the remainder of the year.
Nelson will be the second offseason casualty in the Bills wide receiver corps, as Buffalo previously announced they would not be re-signing Donald Jones. That leaves the teams with just Stevie Johnson and unproven recent draftees T.J. Graham and Marcus Easley to catch passes from whoever ends up being the Buffalo quarterback next year. Securing some more viable wideout options has to be a top free agent and draft priority for the Bills front office.
