Joe Flacco’s agent says Tom Brady’s contract has no bearing on negotiations

The new contract of Tom Brady has no impact on Joe Flacco’s negotiations with the Baltimore Ravens according to Flacco’s agent Joe Linta.

Joe Flacco and his agent, Joe Linta, have determined a salary they want and nothing is going to change their demands, not even Tom Brady, according to USA TODAY Sports. The New England Patriots quarterback signed a new, three-year, $27 million extension this offseason, making him far less than the $20 million per year that Flacco is seeking. Linta said of Brady's new deal, "it doesn't matter. It's an extension for cap purposes."

As the Ravens and Flacco try to reach a new deal before the March 4 franchise tag deadline, Linta believes the two sides are on the right track and no other contracts should have a bearing on their negotiations. "The bottom line is, whether Brady took a pay cut or took $27 million a year, it wouldn't have an impact on what we're doing. We've determined a number that we think is fair with respect for the Ravens' cap situation."

Linta met with Ravens officials at the NFL Scouting Combine and said the talks are progressing, but he would not speculate if a deal was close or not. “We’re moving forward. This thing could be done in three minutes or three years,” Linta said.
