Super Bowl 2013 MVP odds: Colin Kaepernick favored to win Pete Rozelle Trophy

MVP odds for the 2013 Super Bowl, from Colin Kaepernick to Alex Smith.

Stephen Dunn

Super Bowl MVP honors have been awarded to a quarterback in 25 of the 46 games played, and five of the last six. It's no surprise, then, that Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers and Joe Flacco of the Baltimore Ravens are the odds-on favorites to take home the Pete Rozelle Trophy on Sunday, according to oddsshark.com. Kaepernick comes in at 7/4, while Flacco has 5/2 odds. Then there is a wide gap between the rest.

Ray Lewis is the only player in Sunday's game who has actually won the award previously. He took home honors after the Ravens beat the New York Giants 12 years ago in Super Bowl XXXV. He is the next favorite player to win MVP with 6/1 odds. Lewis is averaging over eight tackles per game in the playoffs, so he is expected to be plenty busy against the 49ers.

After Lewis, running backs Frank Gore and Ray Rice come in with 17/2 and 12/1 odds. For the truly bold, deposed Niners starting quarterback Alex Smith is being given 100/1 odds by the sports books. Otherwise, you can always bet the field at 22/1.
