The San Francisco 49ers are on the board, but they have yet to get into the end zone. After giving up the opening score, San Francisco drove down the field by picking apart the Baltimore Ravens' defense, but they stalled inside the 10-yard line and had to settle for a field goal that cut the Ravens' lead to 7-3.

An in-depth preview of Super Bowl XLVII The drive started ominously for the 49ers when Frank Gore slipped and lost two yards on the opening play, but Michael Crabtree got those yards and more back on second down. He ran past Ray Lewis, who was in zone coverage, and caught a pass from Colin Kaepernick before scampering down the middle of the field for a 19-yard gain.
From there, the rushing game took over, with Gore and Kaepernick carrying the ball on four consecutive plays down to the Ravens' 32. Kaepernick then found Vernon Davis for 24 yards, putting the 49ers on the eight-yard line and right on the doorstep of the end zone.
But that was as far as the 49ers would get. A short run followed by an incomplete pass put them in third and goal, which gave Paul Kruger the chance to tee off on Kaepernick. He did, dropped Kaepernick for a sack and forcing David Akers on for a field goal.
