Super Bowl 2013 score by quarter: 8-3 square wins third quarter

The Baltimore Ravens lead the San Francisco 49ers 28-23 after the third quarter. If you’re playing the squares game for Super Bowl XLVII, here’s what you need to know.

Al Bello

The Baltimore Ravens remain in control of the 2013 Super Bowl, leading the San Francisco 49ers 28-23 heading into the last 15 minutes of the night. If you're playing the squares game this time around, the 8-3 square payed dividends for you in the third quarter.

Despite a rare power outage that shut down the action at the Superdome for a little over 30 minutes, the two teams eventually made it back out onto the field to keep everyone’s gambling addiction at bay. Unfortunately there was no over/under bet on that kind of event taking place.

You only have a little time left to win some cash from your squares bet. If your game pays out after each score, there were a few chances to win throughout the third quarter. Jacoby Jones kicked off the second half action with a 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, putting the Ravens ahead 28-6. According to The Harvard College Sports Analysis Collective, an 8-6 square paying dividends doesn't happen very often, so congrats if you're in that boat.

Michael Crabtree finally put San Francisco in double digits as he broke free for a 31-yard touchdown with 7:28 to go on the third. Anyone with an 8-3 square took home some cash. Frank Gore also chipped in with a 6-yard score to make it a 28-20 game. There's your 8-0 square if you're holding it.
