Super Bowl XLVII: ‘It’s all about the Lombardi’

Ravens fans are thrilled that the Ravens captured Super Bowl XLVII -- and it doesn’t matter how they won, all that matters that they are the only team left standing.

For the second time in franchise history, the Baltimore Ravens are Super Bowl champions.

After jumping out to a 28-6 lead in Super Bowl XLVII, the Ravens faltered, allowing Colin Kaepernick to lead the 49ers back into the game. San Francisco had a chance to tie the game up at 31-31, but the 49ers failed on a two-point conversion -- and the Ravens never relinquished the lead.

Ravens fans don’t particularly care how the Ravens won the Super Bowl, all that matters is that the Ravens are Super Bowl champions -- and that’s exactly the sentiment being echoed at Baltimore Beatdown, SB Nation’s Ravens blog.

No Good or Bad or Ugly; just Great! In the NFL, it is all about the Lombardi. It doesn’t matter how you win it, or what happened -- it is whether or not you are the last man standing. We could say the defense should have done this or Flacco should have done that, or question some of the coaches -- doesn’t matter. Ravens won; 31 other teams wish they were drafting 32nd now.

Of course, those types of thoughts can only come from champions, as 49ers, Falcons, Patriots and Broncos fans are all still guessing and wondering, "What if?"

It's tough to call Baltimore's Super Bowl XLVII win ugly, as the Ravens won the turnover battle (2-to-1), while Joe Flacco completed 22-of-33 passes for 287 yards and three touchdowns en route to winning the Super Bowl MVP award.

Ravens fans should savor this victory, as it marks the end of the Ray Lewis era in Baltimore. Off-the-field troubles aside, Lewis will go down as one of the best linebackers to ever play football, and his presence will undoubtedly be missed in the locker room and on the field.

Lewis went out a champion -- and there’s no other way he, or Ravens fans, would want it.
