Titus Young claimed by Rams, according to report

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young was claimed by the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday.

Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young was claimed by the St. Louis Rams on Monday, according to Jason La Canfora.

Young was finally waived by Detroit on Monday, after a turbulent and bizarre season. Young's lowest point of his Detroit career came in Week 11, during Detroit's loss to the Green Bay Packers, when Young intentionally lined up in the wrong spot on the field, effectively sabotaging Detroit's offense for that play.

Detroit drafted Young in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Boise State. During his rookie season, Young was targeted 84 times and hauled in 48 receptions for 607 yards, and six touchdowns. Young only appeared in 10 games during his sophomore season, after being sent home, and finished the year with 33 catches for 383 yards and four touchdowns.

Now in St. Louis, Young will compete for a starting job with Chris Givens, Brian Quick and other young Rams wide receivers. Danny Amendola, who spent the season as St. Louis' slot receiver and Sam Bradford's go-to wideout, is ticketed for free agency this offseason.

For Jeff Fisher and the Rams, Young represents a low-risk, high-reward waiver claim.
