Bills will part ways with Donald Jones

Donald Jones will not be suiting up for the Bills in 2013. Here’s a look at Buffalo’s latest decision.

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

The Buffalo Bills are going to be without Donald Jones for the 2013 season, according to general manager Buddy Nix. Jones, 25, is set to become a restricted free agent, but Buffalo will not re-sign or tender the young wide receiver.

Recent reports indicated the two sides were working on a new contract, but that speculation quickly ended on Thursday night with the team’s official report.

Jones dealt with injuries off and on throughout his short career so far in the NFL. An undisclosed medical condition, though, ended his season in 2012, and seems to be hindering his ability to progress in the league. He was placed on the Bills non-football-illness list after playing 12 games.

In three years Jones has yet to complete a full season. He finishes his tenure in Buffalo with 82 receptions for 887 yards and six touchdowns.

David Nelson will also become a restricted free agent, which would lead us to believe the Bills might have different plans for him. The 26-year-old wideout went down for the season in Week 1.
