Roughly a month after Joe Flacco was named the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback will "definitely be the highest paid player" in the NFL when he signs a new contract agreed upon by the team on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun.

Flacco according to multiple reports will become the highest paid player in the NFL with a six-year contract valued at a reported $120.6 million.

During negotiations, Flacco was reportedly looking to become the NFL's highest paid player and he apparently got his wish as his deal surpasses the deal signed by Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints in the 2012 offseason, according to Adam Caplan of Sirius XM Radio. Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported that Flacco received one more year on his contract than Brees and will be signed with the Ravens on a six-year deal.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Flacco’s deal to be worth $120.6 million over six years, “a bit more than Drew Brees’ in almost every way.” Brees received a five-year, $100 million deal that included $40 million guaranteed in July after the team applied the franchise tag to him earlier in the 2012 offseason.
Flacco was the 18th selection overall in the 2008 NFL Draft and has started all 80 games during his five-year career. The Ravens finished with a winning record in each of the five seasons and Flacco had his career-best year in 2012, eventually leading the team to a 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl.
In the postseason, Flacco accumulated 11 touchdown passes and 1,140 yards without throwing a single interception.
