Percy Harvin trade rumors: Vikings WR wants out

Minnesota wide receiver Percy Harvin has once again stated he does not want to play for the Vikings this upcoming season.

Brace Hemmelgarn-US PRESSWIRE

The ongoing saga of Percy Harvin and the Vikings continues, with the disgruntled Minnesota wide receiver once again stating he has no plans to play for the Vikings this upcoming season. Via Sid Hartman of the StarTribune:

However, the latest word from some good sources around the NFL is that Harvin, who missed the final seven regular-season games as well as the playoff game because of a serious ankle injury, has told the Vikings that he doesn’t want to play for them and wants to be traded.

Minnesota general manager Rick Spielman has stated that the Vikings will not trade Harvin, who is signed through the 2013 season. The Vikings are under the salary cap, and would have additional money to give Harvin, if they so desire, but despite Spielman’s proclamations a trade is more likely. If Minnesota put the wideout on the trading block, there would be no lack of suitors for his service. However, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the team should not expect more than a third round pick in return for Harvin, given his injury history.

One intriguing landing spot for the mercurial wide receiver, if he were dealt, would be the New England Patriots, especially if the team cannot retain the services of Wes Welker. Other teams rumored to have interest in Harvin include the St. Louis Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs, though the recent contract given to Dwayne Bowe by Kansas City likely diminishes their interest..

Despite missing the final seven games of the 2012 season due to injury, Harvin still led the Vikings with 62 receptions and 677 receiving yards.
