The Dallas Cowboys made four different moves Monday to get under the 2013 salary cap, according to Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram.

The Cowboys released linebacker Dan Connor, which freed up $3 million toward next season's salary cap. But the team also restructured the contracts of nose tackle Jay Ratliff, cornerback Orlando Scandrick and guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, according to Hill:
Ratliff had $3.66 million in base salary converted to signing bonus, helping to save the Cowboys $2.93 million against the cap.
Scandrick and Bernadeau also had base salary converted to signing bonus to reduce their cap hit for 2013.
At the start of the day, the Cowboys were $7 million over the salary cap.
Ratliff, 31, has spent his entire eight-year career with the Cowboys. He was a seventh-round pcik in the 2005 NFL Draft. He has been a regular starter since 2007. In 104 career games, Ratliff has 158 solo tackles and 27 sacks. Ratliff had his breakout season in 2009 when he recorded six sacks, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Scandrick, 27, has also spent his entire career with the Cowboys. Scandrick has played in 72 games for the Cowboys, starting 19. He has 6 1/2 sacks and three interceptions over his five years.
Bernadeau, 26, started all 16 games for the Cowboys last year. He joined the team midway through 2011 after spending his first 2 1/2 seasons with the Carolina Panthers.
