Richard Seymour rumors: Broncos, Falcons interested in veteran lineman

Denver and Atlanta could both use another defensive lineman, and both seem interested in Richard Seymour.

The Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons have both expressed an interest in bringing in defensive lineman Richard Seymour, according to Jason La Confora.

Seymour has been a terrific player for over a decade, but the tires are low on tread at this point. However, Seymour is still a wily veteran who can make an impact, especially against the pass.

Last year, Seymour only played in eight games but made three sacks for the Oakland Raiders. Seymour would add a relatively cheap presence for either Denver or Atlanta and perhaps be a piece that puts each a little closer to a Super Bowl.

Atlanta desperately needs help getting to the quarterback after it released defensive end John Abraham, who had 10 of the team's 29 sacks last season. In the 4-3 scheme, Seymour would provide versatility, but would mostly play on the interior.

In Denver, Seymour would stay in the AFC West and go back to a 3-4 defense under Jack Del Rio, the same style he played when he was with the New England Patriots. The Broncos would like to add another situational pass rusher and Seymour is someone who could provide that service.

In 12 NFL seasons, Seymour has amassed 57.5 sacks including a career-high eight in 2003 and 2008.
