The Miami Dolphins are now making a "strong push" to bring back free agent left tackle Jake Long, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jake Long rumors: Dolphins making ‘strong push’ for tackle, according to report
Jake Long has had a long courting period with the Rams this week, but hasn’t been able to close a deal yet. Now the Dolphins appear to be making a ‘strong push’ to re-sign him, according to a report.

Miami let the 27-year-old test the free agency waters this week. He had an extended courtship with the St. Louis Rams, staying for a couple days and taking a physical. The two sides have been trying to hammer out a deal, but it doesn't appear they've been able to come to an agreement. Now the Dolphins seem to be jumping into the fray to retain their former No. 1 overall pick.
Schefter says in his tweet that he’s “not sure if it’ll be good enough,” indicating that the Rams still have an offer on the table. The Dolphins haven’t been afraid to throw around money in this free agency period, and after making meager attempts to re-sign Long during the season, they now seem ready to get into a bidding war for his services.
Long remains one of the top O-linemen on the market, but his injury history and decline over the past two years is driving down his demand. Like many other free agents this year, he may have to end up taking a smaller paycheck than what he was hoping for.
