The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed tight end Matt Spaeth, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Spaeth, 29, spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears, but spent the first four years of his career with the Steelers. The team drafted him in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft.

With the Bears, Spaeth missed just one game over two seasons. He started in 16 games. He caught 13 passes for 78 yards and three touchdowns.

Spaeth was just as productive during his first tenure with the Steelers. In four seasons, Spaeth played in 60 games and started 39. He caught 36 passes for 275 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 7.6 yards per reception with the Steelers.

Rebecca Rollett of Behind the Steel Curtain is happy that the Steelers signed Spaeth. Rollett claims that most might not be impressed on the outset, but Spaeth has actually improved greatly since leaving Pittsburgh.
